Garden in Bellosguardo, Florence
This garden develops downhill and off the side of the residence, so the overall aim has been to create an inviting path to the areas below, linking the different parts of the garden. From the front patio, turned into a shady green lounge, the path leads to a small belvedere overlooking the view, and to the pool area below. We are surrounded by Roses, the owner’s favorite plant, complemented by low shrubs and herbaceous perennials, including Salvia microphilla, Lavender, Geranium, Rosemary, Iris and Hemerocallis. By the pool is a large border featuring Hornbeam trees pruned into cubes on stilts, over mainly green and white planting, including white roses, Hydrangea, Japanese anemone and Pittosporum. A pagoda-style pergola nearby provides an outdoor dining area, which adjoins a curvilinear lawn on one side, and is lightly enclosed by textured borders of herbs and grasses.
