Sonic Pangea. Show garden
Created for the 2013 Chelsea Flower show in collaboration with Stefano Passerotti, the Sonic Pangea garden features a variety of annual herbs and plants with edible flowers, and a chaise-longue carpeted with Philla nodiflora and planted with other perennials and grasses. The theme, allegedly, is the celebration of nature since antiquity, with the seating area representing Gea, Mother Earth, in front of the Altar of Pan, woodland god, in a forest represented by Sonic Spears, metal poles emitting sounds and light. Pangea, the name of Earth before it split into continents, represents unlimited potential, the creative power of nature. In fact, this was born out of fun, a provocation to stimulate all senses in the garden. Sculpture, sound and light installation, a living seating area, interplanting herbs with grasses and perennials, these are all ideas applicable in contemporary gardens. We won a Bronze medal in the Fresh gardens category.
